Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s 19th child, daughter Josie, was released from the hospital after spending almost four months in a neonatal intensive care unit.
Josie, who was born four months premature in December, left Arkansas Children’s Hospital with her parents on today.
Jim Bob told People:
“We’re grateful for the prayers of thousands.”
Michelle added:
“We are so happy. We are so excited, we are running on adrenaline. I have been getting into the routine of every three hours feeding, diapering and taking her temperature. We are so encouraged that she is doing so well. She has a strong personality. She is a spunky little thing and will keep us all going.”
Her physician adds that Josie currently weighs 4 pounds, 9 ounces, is able to breathe on her own, and is eating every three hours.
The Duggars will be staying in a rental home close to Little Rock until they’re ready to bring Josie to the family home in Tontitown, Ark.
Michelle adds:
“I will be her main caregiver and we’ll have a lot of helpers around to take turns feeding her and getting her to sleep.”
Her journey home will be featured on a special episode of their show on TLC, “19 Kids and Counting,” airing Sunday, May 9 at 8 PM.
