Just four days after the death of his wife, Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer was back out on the field on Sunday where he earned a game ball after their 17-14 win in Baltimore.
The Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis awarded Zimmer the ball inside the locker room during an emotional scene as Bengals players then huddled around Zimmer jumping up and down.
To the team Zimmer said:
“My wife loves all of you. Win or lose, she’s proud of you.
“And I just appreciate all of your effort.”
His wife, Vicki Zimmer died unexpectedly on Thursday at the age of 50. A cause of death has not yet been announced.
