Keyboard Cat: The Next Generation

March 13th, 2010

Since the original Keyboard Cat has retired to a place called heaven the world has been in dire need of a cat to take his place at the keyboard, and now we have one! The world can’t end in 2012 unless there’s a live Keyboard Cat on stage to play us all off!

This new Keyboard Cat has a new keyboard, a new song and even busts a move at the end. Basically, Keyboard Cat 2.0 is the Lisa Coleman of cats.

FYI: This shit might be more entertaining if you smoke a little catnip first. Trust me, it works (I think).

Michael Jackson’s Tacky Furniture Goes On The Auction Block

March 13th, 2010

Have you ever wished that you could own a piece of furniture that once touched the butt of the late Michael Jackson? Well … here’s your chance. A collection of Michael Jackson’s furniture is about to go for sale at auction … here are but a few pieces that could be YOURS if the price is right:

he 22 pieces of custom-made furniture Michael Jackson commissioned for his London home are going on the auction block. Darren Julien of Julien’s Auctions says a gilded red velvet sofa that seats nine, a leopard-print chair trimmed with ostrich feathers and a pair of velvet armchairs embroidered with gold eagles are among the offerings. Jackson intended to use the furnishings during his “This Is It” comeback concert run in London. Fans can visit a re-creation of the home at Las Vegas’ Planet Hollywood casino from June 14 to June 25 before the items are sold at auction. A portion of the proceeds will benefit two charities: MusiCares, which provides health care and other services for struggling musicians, and Joshua’s Heart, which aims to end world hunger.

Ugh, this crap looks like a Bobby Trendy fire sale. Look, even the staunchest fans of Michael Jackson have to realize that his taste in furniture and home decorating was dubious at best (and downright tacky at worst). But … I can understand how someone might want to own a piece of MJ’s world. So … if you are interested in owning one of these furniture pieces, I’d save your pennies … I’m guessing that Christian Audigier is gonna make a play for as much of this stuff as possible. Good luck!

Homeboys have got it going ON! While each of these young men is dressed to perfection I have to say that the prize goes to Joe for being the fiercest of the bunch. The glasses, the jacket, the white watch … you betta work it, beyotch! No word on what the boys bought on this shopping excursion but you know it had to be something fab-u-lous.

Ryan Phillippe Gets Camera Shy

March 13th, 2010

Ryan Phillippe stepped out yesterday afternoon to pay a visit to the Neil George Salon in Beverly Hills, CA and altho he seemed not very interested in posing for the photogs, he gave no indication that he was not interested in being photographed … he was just lookin’ his normal hawt self:

Things changed dramatically as day turned to night. Ryan got suddenly all shy and clearly wasn’t up for being papped. After the jump, check out just how shy our dear Ryan got last night …

Ryan made his way from the W Hotel to Dan Tana’s for dinner and very plainly didn’t want anyone seeing him do so. I dunno what was up … nor can I be sure that he was really upset or the photos just capture him mid-facial expression. Whatever the case may be … Ryan looks like he needs a hug. I, for one, would be happy to give him one.

Tatum And Ryan End Their Feud With A Kiss

March 12th, 2010

Tatum and Ryan O’Neal’s love/hate relationship was set back to “love” last night in Los Angeles at The Runaways premiere. The love between the father and daughter was so strong that they even Angelina-ed each other right there on the red carpet.

Tatum told Access Hollywood (via OK! Magazine) that re-connecting with her father felt weird at first, but now “it feels beautiful, you know.” No, I don’t know, Tatum. I’m not looking at this with bulging James Haven eyes, so it doesn’t look beautiful to me at this time.

But only I say this because my brain opened up the file labeled “The Gospel According to Papa Joe” and flipped to the page where Ryan talks about how he hit on a Swedish woman at Farrah Fawcett’s funeral who turned out to be his own daughter. That story paired with this picture is making me want to run away. Grab your hobo bindle and let’s give these two some fucking space!

‘Bounty Hunter’ Premieres In London

March 12th, 2010

Yesterday we got our first look at co-stars and rumored lovers Jennifer Aniston and Gerard Butler on the cover of the new issue of W magazine. Today we get to see the happy couple, whom I have dubbed J-rard, at the London premiere of their new film Bounty Hunter which took place at the Vue Leicester Square theater last night:

Blech … as much as I don’t like him for her, there is no denying that they have good chemistry together. Whether they are friends or not, they do seem to have that spark that makes it seem that they are together … or at the very least they’ve “known” one another, in the Biblical sense. While I am still not at all interested in seeing their film I can see how it may appeal to others. These two make a pretty pair … for good or ill, the sight of these two on the big screen together is certain to appeal to a segment of the movie-going population.

Is ‘24’ Moving To NBC?

March 12th, 2010

On Wednesday we learned the news that Fox is seriously considering axing their long-running TV series 24 after this season comes to a close with their focus becoming a move to feature films. Considering how terrible the show is this season, I have to admit I was relieved to hear that the show would likely end rather than languish thru another terrible season. Entertainment Weekly is reporting today, tho, that Fox has approached NBC with an offer to sell them the show … and NBC is reportedly interested. Might 24 find another day of life on a new network?

24 may live to see another day after all. Multiple sources confirm to me exclusively that 20th Century Fox has approached NBC about picking up the series should Fox opt to cancel it — and the Peacock is considering it. “There’s definitely some interest,” says an insider close to the talks. Earlier this week, reports surfaced that 20th (a.k.a. the studio) and Fox (a.k.a. the network) are nearing a mutual decision to end the serial thriller after eight seasons due to declining ratings and rising costs. A move to NBC — while still considered somewhat of a long shot given the hefty price tag — would likely delay 20th’s plans to launch a Jack Bauer film franchise. From a production standpoint, 24 execs have long maintained that it would ne next to impossible to make a movie while the series was still on the air. Reps for 20th and NBC declined to comment.

GRRR … I am so on the fence here. I love 24 and would love to see it live on but I’m just not confident that producers have any more good seasons left to give us. This season is just painful to watch … I hate that a show I have loved for so long is pissing me off week after week with crap storytelling and idiotic storylines. It makes sense that NBC would want to pick up a popular TV series to raise their ratings but considering the price tag that comes along with a show like 24, it’s unlikely that NBC can afford it … or that they can take the risk of spending so much money for a show that is already losing fans. It’s possible that 24 may live to see another day on NBC … but for the sake of the show I love so much, I hope they just let it end on as high a note as possible rather than letting it keep getting worse and worse. What do y’all think … do YOU want to see 24 on NBC? Better yet … would you watch 24 on NBC?

‘Memory’ Serves

March 12th, 2010

Last night, David and I met up with our good friends Josh and Emma for a quick dinner at Prizzi’s Piazza before we made our way to the Pantages Theater in Hollywood, CA to see a performance of the beloved Broadway hit Cats!

Of the 4 of us, I was the only one who had seen the show before … and, unfortunately, none of my theater companions could follow what the hell was going on thruout the show. David kept whispering to me, “What is a ‘Jello Cat’?” and even after I explained what was going on at intermission, the three of them were still a bit confused. David did like the part where the cat lady (who he called Tina Turner) flew off into outer space on her space ship. Because the majority of the songs are based on poetry by T.S. Eliot, the songs are not the sing-songy showtunes that people usually respond to. The dance … the show is really all about the dance.

We had a great time and I have to commend the Cats cast for putting on a fantastic show last night. I have to give a shout-out to Pink readers Drew Roelofs (Plato, Macavity) and Adam Steiner (Rum Tum Tugger) especially for their amazing performances last night. Steiner proudly declares that he is a Detroit native, which endears him all the more to my heart! Great job you guys … thanks for sharing your talents with us here in LA :)

After the jump, if you so desire, you can check out some photos that we snapped last night of our fun night out …

Despite the confusion, we had a great time last night … I’m so glad we got to see Cats here in LA at the Pantages. I love that theater and it was really fun seeing Cats again on stage so many years after I saw it back in Detroit ;)

Not sure what the plan is for tonight … but I hear Josh and Emma may have a great idea up their sleeve. We shall see. Happy Weekend, y’all!!
